The pour, the warmth, the cask. Six notes.

In the order you meet them: a bright pour of cognac and orange, a warm heart of cinnamon and praline, then vanilla and toasted wood that stay. Tap any note to put it under the spotlight. You’ll pour all six in the game below.

Act I · The pourtop notes
Act II · The warmthheart notes
Act III · The caskbase notes
Act I · top note · the pour

Cognac

Bright, boozy and a little fruity. Warm grape brandy and oak, the first thing you smell.

Did you knowCognac must age at least two years in French oak. About 3% of it slips out through the wood each year. Cellar masters call that the angels’ share.

Act I · top note · the pour

Bitter orange

Zesty, with a bitter edge. More marmalade peel than sweet juice. It keeps the cognac bright.

Did you knowOne bitter orange tree gives perfumers three oils: bitter orange from the peel, neroli from the blossom, and petitgrain from the leaves and twigs.

Act II · heart note · the warmth

Cinnamon

Warm, sweet and woody. The spice that makes the cognac glow.

Did you knowCinnamon’s main scent molecule is cinnamal. IFRA limits how much of it a perfume can hold, because too much can cause skin allergies.

Act II · heart note · the warmth

Praline

Caramelised sugar and toasted nuts. The dessert note, kept soft.

Did you knowPraline takes its name from Marshal du Plessis-Praslin, a 17th-century French nobleman. His cook is said to have made the first one: nuts set in caramelised sugar.

Act III · base note · the cask

Vanilla

Creamy and round. It keeps the sweetness warm rather than sugary.

Did you knowA fresh green vanilla pod barely smells of vanilla. The scent appears during curing, as the pods are sweated, dried and rested for months.

Act III · base note · the cask

Toasted woods

Dry, warm wood. Like the inside of a cognac cask, it holds everything close for hours.

Did you knowWhen coopers toast an oak barrel, the heat turns part of the wood into vanillin. That’s why aged spirits smell of vanilla and caramel.

Play · pour the spell

Pour the Spell. Build it from the base up.

Perfumers build a scent from the base up. Pour Spellbound the same way: six notes, six lines on the glass. Hold to pour and let go on the line. A little more always follows, so stop just before it.

Six notes, from the base up.

Hold the button (or Space) to pour each note up to its line. Woods first, cognac last. If you spill over the line, the angels take the extra.

  • Freshness4/10

Bitter orange lifts the opening. One reviewer calls it “citrusy”, another a “nice summer fragrance”. Still, this is a warm scent.

  • Sweetness7/10

Praline and vanilla make it sweet, while cognac and toasted woods keep it from tasting like dessert.

  • Intensity6/10

Reviews differ. Four mention compliments; one finds it mild. A spray on fabric helps it carry.

  • Warmth8/10

Cognac, cinnamon, vanilla and toasted woods keep it glowing into the evening.

  • Complexity7/10

Six notes in three acts. One reviewer notes how “it starts with cognac, which change to cinnamon”.

If you love Kilian Angels’ Share

Same family. Its own pour.

Spellbound sits in the boozy gourmand family that Kilian’s Angels’ Share made famous. On the published note lists they share cognac, cinnamon, praline and vanilla. Ours adds bitter orange on top and rests on toasted woods, where Angels’ Share uses oak, tonka and sandalwood. Lattafa Khamrah is the sweeter cousin, with dates and praline. It’s our own formula, not a copy, so smell them side by side and trust your nose.

Angels’ Share notes are from Dillard’s listing. Khamrah notes are from Lattafa USA’s listing. Strength classes use standard industry ranges. Kilian, Angels’ Share, Lattafa and Khamrah are trademarks of their owners. God of Essence is not connected to them.

Great Product!

“I purchased 3 perfumes recently, this being one of them. Of the 3, this one was my favourite! Since I ordered during the Diwali time, I also got 2 samples for free. My only minor complaint is that of the 2 samples, one of them was for a fragrance I had already ordered. So, I would have preferred if both samples were something different so I can try something else next time! I will definitely be reordering this when the time comes”

Wear guide

Wear it your way. Desk to dance floor.

A boozy gourmand loves the evening, but a light touch works at the office too. Pick the occasion and the weather, and we’ll tell you how much and where.

Where are you going?
What’s the weather like?

2–3sprays

Where: neck and wrists, plus one on your chest.

What to expect: bright cognac and orange first, then warm praline and vanilla up close.

AC rooms keep it rich and close. No change needed.

Spray, don’t rub

Rubbing your wrists crushes the top notes and dulls the cognac. Spray, let it dry, and go.

Scent your collar

Fabric holds it longest, 14–18 hrs in our tests. One spray on your collar or scarf from arm’s length. Test a hidden spot first, and skip silk.

Moisturise first

Dry skin lets scent fade faster. An unscented lotion first helps it hold. More in how to make perfume last longer.

Layer it

One reviewer pairs it with Elegant Euphoria for a brighter, fruitier spell. Our layering guide has more pairings.

Spellbound unisex cognac perfume, 50 ml extrait de parfum on a warm peach background
The story in the bottle

From the cellar to your collar.

In Cognac, the spirit rests in oak for years. Each year a little of it slips through the wood and drifts away. Cellar masters call it the angels’ share. Near the old cellars, a black fungus even grows on the walls, feeding on the vapour.

Spellbound bottles that cellar. Cognac and bitter orange open it, cinnamon and praline warm the heart, and vanilla and toasted woods hold it close for hours. Boozy first, sweet at heart, warm all evening.

“It stands true to the name. The fragrance and the notes spellbound me.”A S, a verified buyer

From 7 August to 19 October 2026, Spellbound went into one in five of our full-bottle orders. The scent people most often bought with it was King of Blues: one warm, one fresh, for night and day.

Ours runs at 40–45% oil, from oils sourced from Switzerland, with Indian cinnamon, blended in India. Not sure yet? Try it in the Discovery Set, or write to hello@godofessence.com and we’ll help you choose.

Questions

Spellbound FAQ

What does Spellbound smell like?

Like warm cognac with a twist of bitter orange, then cinnamon and praline, settling into vanilla and toasted woods. It's an amber gourmand: boozy, sweet and warm, but not sugary. Reviewers call it warm, rich, sweet and long lasting.

Does Spellbound smell like Kilian Angels' Share?

It's in the same boozy gourmand family. On the published note lists they share cognac, cinnamon, praline and vanilla. Spellbound adds bitter orange on top and rests on toasted woods, where Angels' Share uses oak, tonka and sandalwood. It's our own formula at 40–45% oil, not a copy. More in our guide to luxury perfume alternatives.

Is Spellbound like Lattafa Khamrah?

They're cousins. Both mix cinnamon, praline and vanilla. Khamrah adds dates, tuberose and myrrh and feels sweeter and fuller. Spellbound is drier, with cognac and bitter orange on top and toasted woods at the base. More in the best Arabic perfumes in India.

Is this the Estée Lauder Spellbound?

No. Estée Lauder's Spellbound is a different perfume, a floral oriental from 1991. God of Essence Spellbound is a cognac-and-praline extrait de parfum, blended in India.

How long does Spellbound last?

In our wear tests it lasts 8–9 hrs on skinand 14–18 hrs on fabric. Ten of the 19 reviews quoted on this page say it lasts long. One reviewer finds the scent mild, so add a spray to your collar if you want more trail.

Is Spellbound for men or women?

Both. It's unisex. One reviewer gifted it to their partner and says she gets "a ton of compliments". Another says colleagues asked what they were wearing.

Is Spellbound good for winter or summer?

It's at its best on cool evenings and in AC rooms, where cognac and praline feel rich. One reviewer still calls it a "nice summer fragrance". In heat, use one spray less and put one on fabric.

Can I wear Spellbound to the office?

Yes, with a light hand. One or two sprays on your wrists or chest keeps it warm and close in a meeting room.

Is Spellbound sweet?

Warm-sweet. Praline and vanilla bring the sweetness, while cognac, bitter orange and toasted woods keep it from tasting like dessert. Two reviewers call it sweet.

How many sprays of Spellbound should I use?

One or two for the office, two or three for dinner or a date, and three or four for a party or wedding.

Where are the oils in Spellbound from?

The fragrance oils are sourced from Switzerland, with Indian cinnamon, and the perfume is blended in India.

What does 40–45% oil concentration mean?

It means 40–45% of what's in the bottle is fragrance oil. The rest is the alcohol that sprays it. An eau de parfum usually holds 15 to 20% oil, and an eau de toilette 5 to 15%. More oil leaves more scent behind once the alcohol dries, so you need fewer sprays. It follows the IFRA Standards, the global safety rules for fragrance ingredients.

Can I try Spellbound before buying the full bottle?

Yes. Add it to the Discovery Set: pick 5 scents in 10 ml vials, from ₹1,299. Build your Discovery Set.

How fast is delivery, and can I return it?

Orders ship within 24 hours. Metro cities usually get it in 2 to 3 days, and other cities in 3 to 5 days. Shipping is free above ₹999. Sealed, unopened bottles can be returned within 7 days of delivery, and if a bottle arrives damaged, we replace it. Email hello@godofessence.com to start.
