But the extraordinary in BR540 is a synthetic laboratory molecule, Ethylene Brassylate, surrounded by jasmine and saffron. Beautiful. But not rooted in anything sacred.

Whisper of Woods asks a different question. What if the world's most extraordinary woody fragrance was built on Himalayan deodar — a tree so sacred that ancient Sanskrit called it deva-daru, "divine tree"? Finding a deodar cedar oil of true quality took 7 months. Most commercial cedar oils are Virginian (pencil-box) or Atlas (mineral and thin) — neither captures the sacred, dry-resinous character of Himalayan deodar. We found a Himachal Pradesh supplier doing cold-pressed extraction from sustainably harvested fallen wood. That oil changed everything about the formula.

Is this similar to Baccarat Rouge 540?+
They share the woody-oriental fragrance world — amberwood, saffron, and a warm resinous character. But Whisper of Woods is an original God of Essence creation with a fundamentally different identity. BR540 is built on a French synthetic amberwood molecule (Ethylene Brassylate) with jasmine. Whisper of Woods is built on Himalayan deodar cedar, Indian oud, and Rajasthani khus vetiver. If you love BR540, you will find Whisper of Woods deeper, more Indian, and four times longer-lasting on skin.
What makes deodar cedar different from regular cedar?+
There are three main cedar types used in perfumery: Virginian cedar (pencil-box, thin), Atlas cedar (sharp, mineral), and Himalayan deodar (cool, dry, resinous, sacred). Deodar is the rarest and most complex — it grows only in the Himalayas, has been sacred to India for 3,000 years, and has a character that no other cedar variety replicates. Cool, slightly camphoraceous, deeply resinous. Most perfumers have never worked with it. We built an entire formula around it.
Is this more suitable for men or women?+
Genuinely unisex. Woody orientals with cedar and sandalwood are among the most balanced unisex fragrance categories — neither masculine nor feminine, but deeply personal.
